Bullet by Jonathan Lister

About the front:
The blue catches my eye first. And the striking yellow. And with a title of ‘Bullet’ and the bright spot in the U, I’m wondering if a bullet is on it’s way to me! Or is it the one that cracked that glass, on it’s way out? Of course, there does seem to be a dead guy in the snow … but maybe he’s just a sleep? 😉 I do like, a lot(!), how this cover is similar to book 1 in that it’s part of the cityscape of, I presume, Demos City. We get to see another aspect, a dirtier aspect, an inside aspect vs. the overview of the town as a whole. In some ways, this is just as scary looking as book 1 and in others not – another little trait I have to admire.

Now let’s look at what the back says:

A father’s love doesn’t bend, so what happens when it breaks?

Corruption, dark truths, and a new Alpha mean Leon Gray’s days of running without a pack are over. At least, that’s what everyone but him believes.

He’d rather be helping his teenage daughter navigate the landmine life of a full werewolf, finish out his servitude as bodyguard to a former Demos City reporter and, in all honesty, not be taken advantage of by a beautiful woman who really only wants him for his body—figuratively and metaphorically.

Of course, the only way any of that might happen is if he’s dead. That’s likely given the information the reporter has unearthed and the territorial battles already underway between packs. If only Demos City’s corruption didn’t have such deep roots—older than the bones of the city or any of the werewolves who’ve decided to claim it. A city can only take so many power hungry mongrels invading it at one time, and Leon can only take so much knowing his daughter lives within its boundaries.

War has come to Demos City.

It’s up to Leon to fix … what’s most important to him.

Does it match? Front to Back without the in between?

A father’s love doesn’t bend, so what happens when it breaks?

Uh oh. Has something happened to Shauna?

Corruption, dark truths, and a new Alpha mean Leon Gray’s days of running without a pack are over. At least, that’s what everyone but him believes.

Poor Leon! Dude’s had it rough ever since his daughter’s coming of age and now there’s more? If the question of ‘how much can he take?’ isn’t an obvious one to ask, then the opening line probably says it all.

He’d rather be helping his teenage daughter navigate the landmine life of a full werewolf, finish out his servitude as bodyguard to a former Demos City reporter and, in all honesty, not be taken advantage of by a beautiful woman who really only wants him for his body—figuratively and metaphorically.

Oooh, a beautiful woman. Hmmm … that’s new. No, wait … Jenny wouldn’t take advantage of him so it has to be someone else.

Of course, the only way any of that might happen is if he’s dead.

No! Say it ain’t Leon on the cover!

That’s likely given the information the reporter has unearthed and the territorial battles already underway between packs.

No!!! Not Leon! Do not kill off Leon!

If only Demos City’s corruption didn’t have such deep roots—older than the bones of the city or any of the werewolves who’ve decided to claim it. A city can only take so many power hungry mongrels invading it at one time, and Leon can only take so much knowing his daughter lives within its boundaries.

I knew it would all revolve around Shauna. Poor girl. Poor Dad. Maybe he’ll be there like the Hyundai commercial from the Super Bowl. 😉 Every time he saved the kid, my heart did a flippy-floppy because I saw what was coming and hurt before it didn’t happen. Watch for yourself …

War has come to Demos City.

Of course it has. Peace never lasts

It’s up to Leon to fix … what’s most important to him.

He better! And not die in the process.

So does it match?
I like it!

Will I read it?
Yes!
