Book conversation with my 12 year old
Me : “I want a Kindle”
Him : “What’s a kindle?”
Me : “An e-reader. Like you can read entire books on a computer, of sorts.”
Him : “I like books.” [this is the boy that has a cell phone and texts his friend even when they are sitting right next to each other]
Me : “Me too but I like both. I like the feel of new books, but not old ones. I want the old one on a Kindle.”
Him : “I like to flip back when I remember something. How would you do that on a computer?”
Me : “Good point. I’m sure there’s a way.”
Him : “But you can’t flip with it and have all the paper fan out so you can find stuff. I like books. Will you buy me the next Lightening Thief?”
He’s nearly 13. He likes boooooooks. Paper ones. 🙂 Gotta love him.
He does have a point, though can put in electronic bookmarks. I buy whichever is cheapest. If the book’s in paperback and fairly recent, I can usually get it cheaper at Target where they sell for 25% off cover. Older ones not yet on Kindle, I try Amazon marketplace. Older ones on Kindle, I buy for my Kindle. NY times bestsellers, if I can’t wait for paperback release and must have now, I get on my Kindle.
And get him the next Lightening Thief. My kids have them all and love(d) them.
I’ll get it for him … eventually … when he cleans his room. 😉
