I’m no better than “everyone” else. :)
‘Cuz I bought Dan Brown’s book — The Lost Symbol — and 71 pages into it, I’m sucked in! Now, granted, I expected to be as I read Angels and Demons as well as The DaVinci Code. Loved them both. There is so much “chatter” about Dan as an author, his books, his stories. I don’t pretend to understand it … just can’t. But I can say that *I* as a reader, love his stories and am happy, once again to be reading his work. 🙂
So here’s a question … why, or why wouldn’t you, read this book or any other completely popular book?
I think there’s lots of popular authors that don’t ‘write well’. But the fact of the matter is the story compells the reader to read on and forget the writing. That’s a gift, you ask me.
I agree. Though I also think he writes well. 🙂 Double gift perhaps? 🙂
I have been intrigued by this book recently, as it’s been in the air and has been recommended twice to me now. I think every book is worthy of a read, regardless of how unpopular or popular it’s made out to be, as at the end of the day that’s only social culture. Why follow the crowd when you can just read what you like? And make up your own mind about it.
