A first of its kind, Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep photography exhibition, featuring photographs by Aimee Bickers, to open March 20, 2009 in Apex.

Apex, NC — February 27, 2009 – A photography exhibition featuring forty-six images created by volunteers for Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep, will open with a reception, Friday, March 20, 2009 at 7:00 pm at the Halle Cultural Arts Center in historic downtown Apex.
The photography exhibition is the first gallery exhibition of printed images exclusively from Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep. It features the work of photographer Aimee Bickers of Pure Expressions Photography, with Malissa Dunn, Dilip Barman, Robin Rogers, David Gann and Dr. Scott Witt of the Triangle.

Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep (www.nilmdts.org) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a network of over 6000 volunteer photographers in the United States and twenty-five international countries. Twenty-two photographers volunteer their services in the Triangle area. Aimee Bickers, an Apex-based photographer, volunteers her time as photographer, Area Coordinator and Certified Trainer to NILMDTS. “Creating images is what I do; it’s my passion, my career, my life. Creating images for families who have lost their child is my calling,” says Aimee.

The exhibition, entitled “A Helping Hand for a Healing Heart,” is a reminder that love never ends. “The images selected for this exhibition come directly from the families we’ve served here in the Triangle and across North Carolina,” explains Aimee. “These families have lost a baby, sometimes more than one. They are no longer here physically, but as photographic memories. In most cases, only family and perhaps close friends have ever seen these images. On March 20th, we begin the process of sharing these little children with the world.”

The exhibition of images created by Aimee and her fellow volunteer photographers, as well as memorabilia provided by families, will remain on display to the public through April 27, 2009.

The Halle Cultural Arts Center is located at 237 N. Salem Street, Apex, NC 27502. Hours are 9:00 am – 6:00 pm Monday through Friday and 9:00 am – 1:00 pm Saturday.
