November Featured Family

FF1Amy and Donovan, an Apex couple, recently added to their family, with the addition of their son. These three are in the process of creating a new life for themselves in North Carolina, as a family. While the couple has made their home in the state, Declan is the first to be born here.

New dad Donovan, originally from South Africa, works as a Paramedic with an EMS unit. Fitting in a maternity photography session with his
wife and an infant session upon the birth of his child was a difficult undertaking simply due to his schedule. Added to the complications of
timing, Declan was born in the winter months, which, in North Carolina,  can mean 60 degree or 30 degree weather.

FF2Convenience was, therefore, a key factor. As Amy put it, “It was extremely convenient to have Declan’s newborn pictures taken at our home.  It was such a relief that we did not need to wake our newborn up and haul him out in the chilly February weather to have his photos taken.  We also did not have to worry about our newborn around ‘germs’.”  

While Declan’s first photographs were taken in the couple’s home, Amy and Donovan were one of the very first photographed in FF#the new Pure Expressions Photography studio in 2007. When we asked Amy about her choices of location for her photography sessions, she said, “I did not think our home had any photographic settings to use.  Aimee used props in our home to
create the most beautiful photos!  She also has many creative ideas while in her studio!”

One of those props was a rocking chair, hand made by Amy’s father. It’s just one indication that it is history and sentiment that drives Amy’s choice for photography. Growing up, Amy’s family added an annual portrait to their family album; an album that Amy has since duplicated for her new family. “We wanted to create a professional quality family photo album and have professional photos taken every year, as my parents did when I was a child,” says Amy.ff4

“We first contacted Pure Expressions Photography after searching the web.  We were amazed by the quality of the photographs in the online gallery.  We were also impressed with the combined session program including newborn, 6 month, 1 year, 18 month and 24 month sessions.”

With three sessions under their belt, this family knows what to expect from their photography sessions and it is always and truly a
pleasure to work with them.
