So, welcome, Keri, to our fun little interview about you and your debut novel, Halos: Somnium, a hot little paranormal romance, which released December 16, 2011!

Wouldn’t it be fun to chuck it all and go live on a sailboat?
“Oh man, yes it would. Well, let’s not get into the housing market…I like happy endings, remember? But if we look at the advantages of living on a sailboat? What’s not to love?
1. open sea – inspiration any time of the day
2. salty spray – instant exfoliation
3. bronzed skin – having that nice, summer look all year round
4. delirium – solitude is a beautiful thing
5. savings in gasoline – ’nuff said
6. a school of sharks always in your wake
7. swimming with a herd of mermen – they exist, dammit.
8. learning 1,000 ways to prepare raw fish
9. a friendly wave to an approaching pirate ship
10. figuring out how to navigate by the stars after you’ve miraculously escaped the pillaging pirate ship ”

What scares you the most?
Spiders. I don’t know why. I wish I had some flashback like the scene in Arachnophobia when the baby is lying in the crib and a spider rappels from the ceiling. At least then I’d be able to pinpoint some event in my life that would explain such an irrational fear. But even without it, let’s face it…spiders are creepy as hell. They have beady eyes, furry legs, fangs. And you NEVER see them coming. They’re always scampering away from the scene of the crime.

What was your most embarrassing moment?
“My MOST embarrassing moment? Sheesh. There are so many of them…I’ll just pick one:

Probably when my daughter, who was three at the time, repeated a comment I’d whispered to my husband at a restaurant. The place had been recommended to us by friends. My plate arrive and the smell assaulted my nose. Unmistakeable. I leaned in. My daughter cocked her head, watching intently. “What smells like wet dog?” she blurted. Her voice carried to the back of the mostly empty restaurant and traveled back to my ears, echoing in my head. I turned to see my husband’s eyes grow wide. He covered his mouth, but not before a wet chunk of half-chewed chicken burst through his lips and smacked me in the cheek.”

If you could meet any famous person living or not, who would it be?
“Tim Burton. I love his movies: Edward Scissorhands, Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach (a book I loved as a kid), Sweeney Todd, Alice in Wonderland.
Plus, as an added bonus, I’d get to meet Helena Bonham Carter.”

Now, before we get to the last question, let’s look at Keri’s book …

A work assignment in Kittery, Maine should be routine for Allie Lynch; nothing more than to prove herself as a brilliant engineer. Instead she finds herself torn between two men: a gorgeous military guard, Colton Briggs, and her devilishly handsome colleague, Drew Costa. To resist temptation, Allie does the only thing she can: she throws herself into her work.

But fate has other plans for Allie. Women are going missing all around her, Allie is struck with a series of life-threatening mishaps, and she becomes the obsession of a local deranged psychopath.

Thrust into a dark world that she can hardly fathom, Allie must fight for her very survival, open her mind to new realities – and open her heart to the possibility of love. Because both of these men are trouble – but one is a greater danger than she could ever imagine …

Keri wrote her book because she’s always been fascinated by angels and demons. Good versus evil. Somnium is loosely based on her sister – the baby. She wrote the novel soon after her sister moved out of state and it sort of gave her some piece of mind; the idea of someone looking out for her sister.

A muscle in his jaw clenches, emphasizing the intensity of his stare. “I’ve prayed to gods for many years. For victory. For peace. For my sins. Never for a woman, until you came into my life.”

But before you go, one last question …

If you were to be eaten by cannibal, how would you like to be prepared?
Great question! Wow, I never thought about this. I don’t think I’d need to be tenderized…I’m pretty palatable…not that I’ve ever bitten myself or anything. I think I’d like to be marinated in milk, just to give me that nice, soft glow before consumption. The cannibal would probably want to batter and fry me. Wait. Are we talking third world cannibal here? Maybe they’d just skewer and set me on a flame. I can be more spicy than sweet, so I’d add a litte sugar to the mix. I’d love to be served with some fresh vegetables and a nice red wine. …or forest leaves and river water, whatever is most convenient.
