About the front:
The first time I saw this cover, I added the book to my list. It was on a recommendation from Goodreads and even before I read the blurb, I added it. Why? Well I’ll tell you! That’s what this series is all about, right?

I love the color harmony. The setting in nature. The trees, the green and the girl … well, she makes me think of a butterfly. At first glance I figured this for a young adult novel because really … those ‘wings’ give me that sense of wanting to be free, of being lighter than air and able to fly away.

Then again, knowing it’s a book and there is probably some huge conflict about not being free, I figure that’s supposed to allude to what she wants.

Isn’t that, though, exactly what we all want? Freedom?

With a title like My Sister’s Destiny, I go right back to: “Is her destiny something she loves or loathes?” I’m intrigued enough right there by the nuance in the over to want to know more.

Now let’s look at what the back says:

Have you ever had the feeling like something’s missing? No. Scratch that. Like a piece of your heart is gone? Vacant. That’s how Cadence Macoby has felt ever since she can remember. Never laughing, never crying, Cadence lives an existence that barely feels alive. She isn’t the only one, her parents feel it too. When she meets handsome, mysterious Cole, he helps Cadence unlock the secrets that hide in her past, and the magic within her soul, allowing her to experience feelings of her own for the very first time. Bound to a destiny she didn’t ask for, Cadence must face an evil she never dreamed possible, if she wants to find the missing piece of her broken heart.

Does it match? Front to Back without the in between?
Well … I’m not sure on the back. Yes, I think it matches the front in terms of destiny, but I’m not sure what the story is really about except that I presume it’s a romance … Cole helping Cadence find herself … pretty much says to me … ::love::! Now that I like because I’m all about the romance. :)

But there is no evil built into this cover. There is no danger. No potential pitfalls. I was almost expecting a character study on some psychological element factor. That’s in play, yup … that I see. And the title fits well with what I read in the story idea.

Where I’d read it
This one makes me want to sit in my sitting room, with the windows all around me, light streaming in, just to see what her life is like.

  • I actually don’t see anything related to butterflies when I look at this cover. I see something celestial–something related to angels/heaven, and that is emphasised by the light shining down upon her through the trees and the way she holds her arms open toward that as though in worship. Does that match the back–maybe in a very vague and indirect way (but only very, very loosly), because this is one of those blurbs–that gives me so little to go on as far as making a choice about whether or not to read–where I’d have to have it highly recommended to me before it would go on my shelf. :)

    • It’s really tough when a cover doesn’t match or the blurb isn’t clear about the intent of the story. Makes it hard to add it. But this cover I really do like. :)

  • It is a beautiful cover… but I don’t think I’ll be putting it on my to-read shelf only based on the cover and the blurb- unfortunately I’ve gotten bitten by one too many beautiful covers this year!
