If you saw it, would you read it?

About the front:
Now this isn’t a book I would probably pick up off the shelf because it looks – almost – like a horror novel and everyone knows I can’t stand if the good guys get killed or if the girl and guy don’t get together. BUT, I do have to save that this rock is incredibly alluring. Not only do we have the ‘hot girl’ we have a ‘hot girl’ with guns and we have all that broken glass with the blood on it. The imagery, to me at least, is beyond stunning. So in that, this wins. I’m not a big fan of the Title font though. It’s almost too light for the overall picture that is the girl and I wish it was the same font as the author’s name – because that has a creepier feel like the book does – with the serif edges.  I still think, though, it’s the ‘hot girl’ in the black leather with the guns that will win over the ‘pick it up off the shelf’ reader because that is the key. So in that, I say, we have a winner.

Now let’s look at what the back says:

Ayden’s suburban home was invaded by a pack of Lycans.

The brutal attack is the only memory she carries of her former life.

Now, one motive burns in her soul:

KILL THEM ALL.

The Sons of Wrath—a brood of vengeance-dealing warrior demons—band with Ayden to hunt the Lycans on Detroit’s most deadly feeding grounds.

Kane Walker should’ve been her easiest kill.

Unfortunately, the newly bitten Lycan has something she wants—clues that may finally lay her past to rest. To reach them, she must be willing to submit to the sensual pleasures awakened by his touch.

Time is running out.

In seven days, Kane will become what Ayden despises most. She can halt his transformation but the antidote requires the ultimate sacrifice. As the beast takes hold, Kane becomes more of a threat.

Ayden must choose between her lust for revenge, or surrender to her enemy and discover a horrible truth.

Does it match? Front to Back without the in between?

Ayden’s suburban home was invaded by a pack of Lycans.

Oooh, werewolfies. Right? Isn’t that a Lycan? Or is this a new breed of creature I don’t even know?

The brutal attack is the only memory she carries of her former life.

Awe. Poor girl. An attack and the visual in the cover go well together

Now, one motive burns in her soul:

KILL THEM ALL.

And there are the guns. Oh yeah, this is going well!

The Sons of Wrath—a brood of vengeance-dealing warrior demons—band with Ayden to hunt the Lycans on Detroit’s most deadly feeding grounds.

Excellent. Fighting. Killing (bad bad!) and the girl are all tied in. I’m so with this one.

Kane Walker should’ve been her easiest kill.

Who’s Kane Walker? A Lycan I presume?

Unfortunately, the newly bitten Lycan has something she wants—clues that may finally lay her past to rest. To reach them, she must be willing to submit to the sensual pleasures awakened by his touch.

Hmmm … okay, so I get this is a romance, but so far the story is really one of vengeance. And a newly bitten Lycan … that means he’s weak? So that’s why he should be easy? For a while there, this was reading (and visually) as a straight-up Urban Fantasy (that’s what the cover screams over top the horror angle). But now with the sensual pleasures, I’m wonder just how far this dips into the erotic category (since the switch is so dramatic).

Time is running out.

It always is. 🙂 I just hope it’s not a plot device.

In seven days, Kane will become what Ayden despises most. She can halt his transformation but the antidote requires the ultimate sacrifice. As the beast takes hold, Kane becomes more of a threat.

Ooh, see, now THIS is what I want to read. This should be up there after the hunting part and then transition into the relationship thing because then my head goes on straight, and I get it! So Kane’s gonna kill her if she doesn’t stop his transformation. My next question … if he was supposed to be the easy kill … why didn’t she do it? What stopped her?

Ayden must choose between her lust for revenge, or surrender to her enemy and discover a horrible truth.

Why are all truths horrible? Just kidding. They have to be to keep readers engaged. 🙂

Will I read it?
I’m quite liking this concept and knowing it’s not horror is a big plus. I’m guessing a LOT of violence though and I get kinda squeamish. But I am curious and intrigued, to say the least, about this girl. I actually want to know why she is who she is and what she’s going to do about it. Oddly, I’m not interested in the dude (yet!) but I’m sure he’ll be super buff and ripple his muscles and make me fall in love.

So … Yes! I’d like to read it!

Will you add it to your bookshelf virtual or otherwise? Share in the comments!
