About the front:
When I first saw this cover, in miniature form, I had to take a second glance. First of all, it’s one of my favorite colors. Yes, that deep teal green is absolutely one of my favorites. That, and as anybody knows, raspberry. So back to THIS cover, I had to click. I HAD to see more and I have to say, I love it. There is an absolute simplicity to it. The font is so simple. The colors are bold yet harmonious. Her face, with eyes closed, makes me wonder if she’s sleeping … actually, it makes me think of that weird Facebook video that went viral for a while where you were told to look for the ‘error’ and after about 30 seconds of searching, the face (in what was thought to be a static pictures) turns and stares at ya. OMG … I jumped. So I’m waiting for this one to do the same. She looks just too serene for her closed eyes … I’m just waiting for them to open up and for me to … jump.

Now let’s look at what the back says:

Elyse knows what it means to keep a secret. She’s been keeping secrets her whole life. Two, actually. First, that she ages five times slower than the average person, so that while she looks eighteen years old, she’s closer to eighty. Second, that her blood has a mysterious power to heal. For Elyse, these things don’t make her special. They make life dangerous. After the death of her parents, she’s been careful to keep her secret as closely guarded as possible. Now, only one other person in the world knows about her age and ability. Or so she thinks. Elyse is not the only one keeping secrets. There are others like her all over the world, descendants of the very people the Greeks considered gods. She is one of them, and they have been waiting for her for a long time. Among so many of her kind, she should not be very remarkable–except for the prophecy. Some believe she will put an end to traditions, safeguarded by violence, which have oppressed her people for centuries. Others are determined to keep her from doing just that. But for Elyse, the game is just beginning–and she’s not entirely willing to play by their rules.

Does it match? Front to Back without the in between?
Secrets. Ah yes. Secrets. Closed eyes are best fork keeping secrets. and I wanna age 5 times slower than the average person! Come on! MEE! Even though she’s 18, I’m not sure if this is YA or adult, so I’m putting it here on my blog for that reason. No, of course the ‘gods’ is a giveaway with the information on the cover, but that’s okay! 🙂 We can know that and still be highly intrigued. For that matter, her face is very goddess-like.

Now, what’s so weird is that the premise of this story — two factions, each on opposing sides of tradition and it being a game is nearly identical to a trilogy I’m writing as Emi Gayle. Granted, it’s not a unique premise and since this one is tied into gods, I’m 99.999% likely to get this one and read it quick. 🙂 I LOVE mythology in books and this one has definitely peeked my interest in more than one way.

So yes, I do believe this blurb and this cover go well together. Mystery. Simplicity. An underlying hint of danger. Yup. Bring it on.

Where I’d read it
Big comfy couch book. Yup. This one will be with me in my fluffy chair.

Will you add it to your bookshelf virtual or otherwise? Share in the comments!
