Since my favorite genre, and the one I write in, is Romance, I could read 24/7 and wouldn’t be able to read all the awesome books available. That’s where the real and/or virtual ‘TBR’ or ‘To Be Read‘ pile comes in handy.
You might have a stack of paperbacks. You might have a folder on your Kindle. Perhaps you use Goodreads. Whatever it is, there’s a list of books you want to read … somewhere.
I have 49 books on my Good reads TBR pile. 49! And that’s nothing compared to some with 100s or 1000s. I have at least 10 book samples on my Kindle and several unpublished manuscripts from friends to read. I get books from everywhere, but I do have to say, they are now all in ebook form. Yup. I am 99.9% ebook only. I stick that .01% in there because every once in a while I have a paperback in my hands … for example at my own book releases!
This year, I’ve made a goal to read 12 adult books and 12 YA books (which I will review under my alter ego’s name Emi Gayle.) This is in addition to all my friend’s pre-published books. That’s not a lot. Nope. Not a lot at all. But it’s a goal for me.
I plan to work through my own TBR pile, but I do expect I’ll add a few (probably too many) to my list throughout the year. I have Hide & Seek, my upcoming novel due out March 1, 2012 on my TBR pile. (Do you?) 🙂 (I had to ask)

Awesome Aimee. The book sounds so mysterious and sexy. I added the book on GR as to-read. Hopefully I can get a copy in the future so I can read the epicness 🙂
Tripp is beyond sexy. I think he’s my sexiest guy to-date. To date, too vs. just today. 🙂 Ha!
Sometimes you scare me with how close our thoughts are. This is exactly the blog post I have planned for later this week (sans the H&S bookmark giveaway). I’ve signed up (on Goodreads) with my own 2012 personal challenge thread to read 72 books in 2012. I did have it set at less until certain members pushed me to up it as they thought I could do more. But there’s a twist involved that I’ve set myself. You’ll have to see my blog post to find out what that is. 🙂
Oh, and of course I have Hide & Seek on my Goodreads list–but on my ‘read’ list. 😉

oh i just added it to my list to keep an eye out for it sounds pretty darn good. My tbr books actually on hand is just shamefully long. i think it’s over 400 now i think. they’re just so pretty though on their bookcases (yeah I had to buy new ones this year :))
My goal this year is 275 books. Thankfully I read really fast so should be able to get them all read and do everything else 🙂

I don’t actually set goals for # books to read. When I used to devour 7 to 10 a week, it seemed rather pointless. However, I’ve not kept up with my goodreads list like I should. Some I’ve decided not to read, some I’m still waiting for the right time to do, and others I’ve read and moved on.
But I’m happy to add Hide and Seek since it is on my mental list to read.
(No need to enter me for a bookmark since I’ve already won one.)
