Mirage’s new classification : Paranormal Romantic

On August 9, 2009 by Aimee

I was talking with a potential bride the other day, who told me that she writes science fiction and horror. Youch! SciFi I’m good with, but I’m a downright chicken when it comes to scary written works and/or movies. 🙂

As we chatted, I divulged that I have written a novel. I went on to elaborate that I’m a happily ever after kind of girl … which fits distinctly within my work as a photographer. Every session I take, every wedding I shoot, I go into it with a kind of awe … because I am a romantic at heart. I am!

I love to see the happiness, love, relationships and to capture that with my camera and lens. I fall in love each time. So what other genre would I write? None!

In reading about genre I have come to the conclusion that my book is somewhere between Romance and Women’s Fiction. It’s a Romantic Novel with a paranormal bent. Sorry, no vampires, witches, fairies, etc. but what happens IS supernatural.

So I have new places to submit it, including Avon, Sillouhette and a few other Romance-specific publishers and agents. Of course, I won’t be doing that until I finish this latest round of edits and redo the opening scene.

At least I have a plan!
