Patrick wrote A Cast of Stones because he wanted to write a story around the theme that everyone is important, no matter their pedigree, origin, or circumstances. In addition, he wanted to write an epic fantasy with all the drama that goes with it, for a long time.

But that’s fantasy and we’re in reality, so let’s get to know Patrick a little more!

If you were to be eaten by cannibal, how would you like to be prepared?
It would all depend on how the cannibal sees me:
As a steak – salt, pepper, and garlic
As a fish – lots of cajun seasoning
As wild game (don’t I wish) – a load of barbecue sauce

The name is hysterical and so contrary to the delicious flavor. Seriously, can you imagine eating a monkey? That sounds incredibly disgusting. I picture a monkey as being stringy and greasy and having a really bad flavor.”

Yes it would.
Sometimes I feel like I’m just gathering stress and resentments as I get older. I would love to be put in the situation where I have to learn to be still without all the external stimulation. I think I would have some very cool conversations with God out there on that boat. I just hope I don’t get seasick. My character does that. It’s not very fun for him.”

Do you prefer the people in your life to be simple or complex?
Complex!
And actually everyone is! People have the most amazing stories. You can never tell just by looking at someone what their story is. I met a barrista at Starbuck’s a few weeks ago who shared her story with me and my jaw almost hit the table. People should be onions, not apples.

Do spelling and grammer mistakes annoy you?
Spoken grammar mistakes bother me much more than written ones. With the written ones, I can pass it off as an oversight. A spoken one is like nails on a chalkboard.

What is the most annoying thing that someone could do to you?
I hate it when people tell me what I think or believe when they haven’t spent any time getting to know me or even talking to me. That’s really arrogant. If you want to know what I think or believe, just ask.

Not since I got married, which is awesome. Actually, I got busted up a few times. Most of the time it was because I wasn’t ready to be a good boyfriend/husband. I got married late, which was good since I was pretty slow to mature.

I’d ask Mary what she thought. We’re a team. I wouldn’t think of making that decision alone. We’d probably split it between Church, charity, college funds, and remodeling the kitchen. A vacation to Hawaii would be cool.
