If you saw it, would you read it? After Dark by Emi Gayle #ReadOrNot
About the front:
So, I will admit right here, that this book is actually mine!! And today is reveal day!! Yes, it’s my alter-ego’s and that means technically, I wrote it, so I’m a little biased in my review here. That being said … I’m still going to share this cover and talk about why I like it so much. Yes … I already know the story. Yes … I’ve seen the cover in multiple instances, but this one … THIS ONE … I love!
You see this one is so Mac that nothing would suit her otherwise. The font is very young, she is exactly how I envisioned her. The cemetery in the background and foreground is totally a part of the story.
I want to know about her. I wonder why she’s so serious-looking and what’s making her be tied into that kind of scenery.
And the words on the screen—”Dawn conceals what the dark of night reveals.” I LOVE that this line is on the cover because it’s part of what started the story — one little line.
Now let’s look at what the back says:
What eighteen year old Mac Thorne doesn’t know will probably kill her.
In exactly eight months, five days, three hours and thirteen minutes, Mac has to choose what she’ll be for the rest of her life.
She has no choice but to pick. As a Changeling, it’s her birthright. To Mac, it’s a birthchore. Like going to school with humans, interacting with humans, and pretending to be human during the pesky daylight hours.
Once darkness descends, Mac can change into any supernatural form that exists — which makes her as happy as she can be. That is, until Winn Thomas, the biggest geek in her senior class figures out there’s more to what hides in the dark than most are willing to acknowledge.
In this first of the 19th Year Trilogy, Winn might know more about Mac than even she does, and that knowledge could end their lives, unless Mac ensures the powers-that-be have no choice but to keep him around.
Does it match? Front to Back without the in between?
Of course it does! But I have no bias here, so I won’t go into why. I’ll just say I LOVE it!
Where I’d read it
